Meet Mrs. E

Howdy!  I’m Karrie, aka Mrs. E.
I teach math.
Mrs. E Teaches Math.
Pretty creative, huh?

When I began teaching years ago, I was given files and files of worksheets for all of my preps.  I was incredibility thankful, but I was so bored doing worksheets class after class, day after day.  I started searching for a way for my students to practice their skills in a more exciting way.  There were few activities out there for high school math at the time, so I started making my own.

Then, in 2012, a colleague convinced me to start a blog to share what I was doing in my classroom, and Mrs. E Teaches Math was born.  My husband and I were struggling to make ends meet, and then I found out I was pregnant.  Facing unpaid leave and day care costs we couldn't afford, I worked to turn my hobby into a side hustle and Mrs. E Teaches Math grew.

I currently live in Japan with my husband, son, and daughter.  My husband is in the military, so that means we move A LOT.  I claim that I'm from Texas, but I've also lived in Utah, California, and Japan.  Maybe we'll be neighbors the next time my family moves!

I've been teaching for 14 years.  I've spent time teaching Remedial Math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Statistics, and STEM.  I'm currently teaching Logic and Critical Thinking and a STEM class at a local homeschool co-op and LOVE IT!  Our frequent moves have led me to the world of homeschooling, for now.  (Seriously, when my son was in kindergarten, we moved 3 times that school year!)

To be honest, life has been a bit different than my 18-year-old self would have thought.  It's been harder, but sweeter.  You, my friend, are part of the sweetness.  Thank you for letting me share my passion and creations with you!
