Using Songs and Chants to Teach Math

We all know that using little songs helps to memorize.  I mean, can you forget the alphabet after learning the song?  I love using songs and chants to help my students remember different properties and theorems in math.  Check out these videos that show some of the songs and chants that I use with my students!

Using songs and chants can help middle and high school students learn properties and theorems in math. These videos for conditional statements, properties of congruence, absolute value equations, and graph transformations will be fun for students!

  1. I think we would work well together. I do a lot of songs, cheers, and chants also! I agree, they groan, and then use them to be successful on tests. I've had students come back years later and say they're still singing the songs. :)

  2. Wow!! I love both the first and the last one for my Algebra 2 honors kids. The ABV one they will really remember because I use the cheer "I one, I one and the middle two are negative" for complex numbers and their values and they do well with it too. Its amazing how the simple things will help them.
Thank you for all your creativity. This is my second career as a Math Teacher later in life and you young teachers are so much more orginial. I love stealing things from you-LOL
